why yes, i am avoiding homework by posting on the internet
how could you tell?

two memes stolen borrowed from brutti_ma_buoni and [personal profile] ruuger:

My "Job" description (which devolved into me trying to summarize my thesis) using only the most used 1000 words:

I want to be a teacher of books, so right now I study books every day. And to be a teacher the next thing I will do is write about books from another place in a long piece that I hope will be a book some day.

That long piece is about many different things. It is about the next form of human life. It is about art that shows memories of a time, not the past, and not the present, but some other time. It is about how women who write have changed what we know about the next form of human life, and about how the reason why that next form of human life will always be about men and women no matter what other form it takes. And I think about how the people who write books about these things are also changing the way they write.

... that was weird.

And, this one is for you dear readers:

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. [Some people I know lots. Some people, if they're reading this, gave birth to me.] But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's Parker ...she likes money and cereal." I'd love it if everyone who's friended me did this. (Yes, even you people who I know really well.) Then post this in your own journal if you feel inclined. In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer

Hmm...there's not much about me you don't know (that I can think of right now). You pretty much know all the important bits. In regards to cereal, I actually like it, but can't eat it w/o gagging. :( Same with pancakes and French toast.

you were the one i was thinking of when i was talking about people i know very well! and seriously, i'd agree, i know a WHOLE LOT about you!!! it is awesome. I did know the french toast thing, but i didn't know that it applied to cereal as well - is it the sweet thing in the morning or just one of those things?

It's the texture thing. I can't eat it at any time. :( Not even my faves. Although sometimes I can eat frosted mini wheats. :)

*interesting*!! and i didn't make you pancakes while you were out did I? because i'm having trouble remembering what we did for breakfast and now i'm feeling retroactively guilty.

I don't think so. But as long as I didn't gag, it's all good. :)

Hmmm... one thing... I'm a major psychology buff :P It just fascinates me :)

OOO! that's cool! so do you read a lot of psych books? are you like a Jungian (is that how you spell it)? the only psych i've read is freud, believe it or not.
darkdreams1222dreamsofspike on February 4th, 2013 03:25 pm (UTC)
Well, I've read a little bit of psych material in books, but mostly Internet articles, etc... and mostly I just tend to analyze every character that I adore, figure out the psychology that motivates their actions/traits "So-and-so is this way because his mother was this opposite way, and seeks this type of affirmation because of that time in his childhood when ______ happened" that sort of thing :P hehe

I like that job description. Kind of poetic. And also, have you noticed how revealing they are? Like, we often skip over details of our work except in outline, but it kind of forces you to tell a little more.

Stuff about me (I am so running out)... I have awful balance problems. Like, the last time I tried ice skating, I ended up with a *blister line* on one inside calf and the opposite outer calf, because I'd been tilting sideways the whole time and the boot rubbed that way. Yeuch.

ETA forgot to ask a question... Where would you most like to live for a year, if you had another year away from home? Somewhere else in Japan, or another place entirely?

yeah, it was definitely surprising to do it, and to try to think about words in that way in english -- though i do the same kidn of thing in japanese these days, because my mental lexicon is that small, you know?

LOL about the running out - sorry lady. But no, i didn't know you had balance problems, that does not sound like fun at ALL.

OH, and ... i don't know that I would go somewhere else for a year actually. I am really liking my time in Japan, and I would definitely like to travel elsewhere in the world (China, Singapore, Australia for sure), but being away from family and friends in the states is not terribly fun (especially when things happen that i would like to be there for).
